Replacement of the regulator of tension and brushes of the generator

In the present Section the description of procedure measurements of brushes and the regulator of tension is given in the Nippondenso generators installed on 4-cylinder models. Replacement of the regulator on the V6 models is made complete with the production Mitsubishi/Delphi generator.


Remove the generator from the car (see the Section Removal and installation of the generator) and transfer it to a workbench.

Brushes

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Give three fixing nuts and remove a back cover of the generator, also give a fixing nut and remove a terminal insulator.

2. Turn out two screws of fastening of the brush holder.

3. Remove the brush holder from a back end face of the generator.

4. Measure length of a vystupaniye of each of brushes from the boss in the holder and compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications. If the size of a vystupaniye of brushes goes beyond the lower bound of admissible range, make their replacement.

5. Check freedom of the course of brushes in the holder's cartridges.
6. At installation of the brush holder into place wring out brushes a small screw-driver for a shaft transmission.
7. Screw and tighten fixing screws.
8. Establish into place a back cover and strongly tighten three fixing nuts.
9. Establish into place a terminal insulator and tighten a nut of its fastening.
10. Install the generator on the regular place (see the Section Removal and installation of the generator).

Tension regulator

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Execute the procedures described above in paragraphs with 1 on 3. Turn out screws of fastening of the regulator to a back frame of assembly of the generator.

2. Remove the regulator from assembly of the generator.
3. Installation is made upside-down.
