Check of a state and replacement of the coil of ignition

4-cylinder models

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Switch off ignition (the key has to be turned in the situation OFF).
2. Remove a cover, the runner and the filter from the distributor.
3. Disunite electric sockets of primary contour of the coil of ignition.
4. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between plugs (And and In) primary winding of the coil. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications.

5. Then measure resistance between the positive plug of primary winding (And) and the plug of a secondary winding. Again compare result to requirements of Specifications.

6. Remember that standard values of resistance of windings change with a temperature. Nominal rates are specified in Specifications, characteristic for temperature of the coil of 21 °C.
7. If in any of the last two checks the result of measurement exceeds the limit of admissible range, replace the ignition coil.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

2. Remove from the distributor a cover and the filter (at the corresponding complete set) (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). Disconnect wires from plugs of primary contour of the coil.

3. Turn out two fixing screws and take the ignition coil from assembly of the distributor.

4. Installation is made upside-down.

4-cylinder models

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Switch off ignition (the key has to be turned in the situation OFF).
2. Disconnect VV a wire from the plug of a secondary winding (bobbin).
3. Remove the 3-contact socket from primary plugs of the coil of ignition.

4. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between plugs (1 and 3 primary windings of the coil. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications.

5. Connect an ohmmeter between the average plug (2) and the plug of a secondary winding. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications.
6. Remember that standard values of resistance of windings change with a temperature. Nominal rates are specified in Specifications, characteristic for temperature of the coil of 21 °C.
7. If in any of the last two checks the result of measurement exceeds the limit of admissible range, replace the ignition coil.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

2. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the ignition coil.

3. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the ignition coil.

4. Installation is made upside-down.
