Removal and installation of a steering wheel

The models of cars considered in the present manual are equipped with system of additional safety (SRS). Before starting performance of any works near the block of a safety cushion, a steering column or the dashboard, disconnect SRS in order to avoid receiving injuries at its casual operation (see the Head Onboard electric equipment). It is easy to distinguish an electrical wiring of a chain of SRS on yellow color of isolation. In order to avoid damage of SRS system, Track that the steering shaft was not turned after removal of a steering wheel. Block a column the ignition key at the rectilinear provision of forward wheels.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect from the battery at first a negative wire, then positive.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

2. Uncover with assemblies steering a wheel of access.

3. For the purpose of an immobilization of a safety cushion disunite the 2-contact socket of an electrical wiring of its module.

4. Uncover access to bolts of fastening of the module of a safety cushion both parties of the lower part of a steering wheel, turn out bolts with heads like TORX with which the module fastens to assembly of a wheel.

5. Accurately take the module of a safety cushion and transfer it to a safe place.

Try not to turn the module the face to yourself. Do not stack from above on the module any foreign subjects at all.

6. Disunite electric sockets of the button of a horn and (at the corresponding complete set) a tempostata.

7. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel and mark the provision of a nave of the last relatively of a column shaft.

8. Having pulled a wheel strictly parallel to the axis, remove it from a steering shaft. If the wheel does not give in, a few its poraskachivayta.

Do not roll stripper bolts in assembly of a steering wheel more at all than on five turns as it can lead to failure of the SRS cable reel. For the same reasons do not allow rotation of a shaft of a column at the removed steering wheel!

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that forward wheels of the car are developed in rectilinear situation.

2. Make sure of correctness of centering of the SRS cable reel, - the arrow with marking of TORAHS has to specify strictly up. If the column shaft after removal of a steering wheel did not rotate with this question there should be no problems. If for any reason the shaft nevertheless turned, make centering, working as follows:

a) Turn the cable reel against the stop clockwise;
b) Turn the cable reel counterclockwise approximately on two and a half turns so that the tag specified strictly up.

3. Bring a steering wheel to regular situation and achieve combination of the landing tags put in the course of dismantle. Make sure that the directing pins of a column get to reciprocal openings from a reverse side of a steering wheel, and the nave correctly entered gearing with the returnable device of the switch of indexes of turns. Put a wheel nave on a pin of a steering shaft, screw a fixing bolt and tighten it with the demanded effort.

4. Connect sockets of a horn and (at the corresponding complete set) a tempostata.

5. Install into place the SRS module, having fixed it new TORX bolts. Track that bolts were tightened with the demanded effort. Establish to the place of a cover of access to screws.
6. Connect together halves of the socket of the SRS cable reel.
7. Establish a cover of access to assembly of a steering wheel.
