Removal and installation of rack transfer

The models of cars considered in the present manual are equipped with system of additional safety (SRS). Before starting performance of any works near the block of a safety cushion, a steering column or the dashboard, disconnect SRS in order to avoid receiving injuries at its casual operation (see the Head Onboard electric equipment). It is easy to distinguish an electrical wiring of a chain of SRS on yellow color of isolation. In order to avoid damage of SRS system, Track that the steering shaft was not turned after removal of a steering wheel. Block a column the ignition key at the rectilinear provision of forward wheels.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Park the car with the forward wheels developed in rectilinear situation. Disconnect from the battery at first a negative wire, then positive.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action! Under the dashboard uncover the connecting hinge of a steering column.

2. Mark the provision of an intermediate shaft of a steering column in relation to an entrance shaft of rack transfer, then release the coupling screw.

3. Cock the parking brake. Weaken wheel nuts. A car front also establish to Poddomkratta it on props. Remove wheels.

4. Merge hydraulic liquid of PAS system in the prepared capacity: disconnect the giving and returnable hydraulic lines from a case of rack transfer.

Do not release nipple connections of the lines going to the pressure head cylinder of the steering mechanism.

5. For the purpose of minimization of losses of liquid to a zakuporta the open ends of lines.
6. Release tips of steering drafts from levers of rotary fists (see the Section Removal and installation of tips of steering drafts).
7. Disunite the l-probe electrical wiring socket (see the Head Engine management) and remove the catalytic converter.
8. Disconnect a gear shifting drive cable(s) (see the Head Korobk of gear shifting).

9. Remove from the chassis and a case of rack transfer intensifying plates.

10. Prop up the steering mechanism from below and give bolts of its fastening). Omit assembly of rack transfer, accurately bringing an intermediate shaft of a steering column out of gearing with an entrance shaft of the mechanism. Not to hook on a back beam, slightly incline assembly of the steering mechanism, and take it from under the car.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Start assembly of the steering mechanism on the regular place and enter its entrance shaft into gearing with an intermediate shaft of a steering column (track correctness of combination of the landing tags put in the course of dismantle).
2. Screw bolts of fastening of assembly of rack transfer (do not forget to enclose under heads of bolts of a washer) and tighten them with the demanded effort.
3. Establish the strengthening plates, tighten bolts of their fastening with the demanded effort.
4. Connect tips of steering thirsts for a rotary fist (see the Section Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
5. Screw a coupling bolt of an intermediate shaft and tighten it with the demanded effort.
6. Establish into place a cover of access to the connecting hinge. Track that both clamps got to reciprocal openings in the floor panel.
7. Connect the hydraulic PAS lines to a case of the steering mechanism. Fill in in the PAS tank necessary amount of fresh hydraulic liquid of the demanded grade (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
8. Establish wheels. Lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel nuts with the demanded effort (see Specifications to the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
9. Pump over system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel (see the Section Removal of Air from a hydraulic path of system of strengthening of a wheel).
