Check and adjustment of gaps of valves (necessarily)

CHECK

Need for adjustment of valvate gaps arises only after replacement or repair of components of the valvate mechanism.

The simplest way of check of valves is listening of the engine at an open cowl. Indicates the raised noise background published by the valvate mechanism the need of carrying out adjustment.

Check and adjustment of valvate gaps have to be made at the cold engine.

4-cylinder engines

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Uncover heads of cylinders and the top cover of a gas-distributing belt (see the Head Dvigatel).
2. Bring the piston of the first cylinder into the provision VMT of the end of a step of compression for what it is necessary to turn a cranked shaft for a pulley so that the tag of "UP" on a cogwheel of a camshaft appeared in situation for 12 hours (see the Head Dvigatel).

3. Having brought the engine into the stipulated situation, it is possible to start check and adjustment of valves of the first cylinder. The scheme of an arrangement of valves on the engine is submitted on an illustration.

4. Begin with the inlet valve. Fill an edge of the measuring probe of the demanded thickness (see Specifications) in a gap between an end face of a core of the valve and a yoke of its drive of the valve. The probe has to slide in a gap with an insignificant resistance. In case of need release a cap key a lock-nut, a screw-driver weaken the adjusting screw, then start tightening it, achieving the demanded effect on a probe edge.

5. Having fixed the adjusting screw a screw-driver from a provorachivaniye, tighten a lock-nut. Make sure that the gap in the course of a tightening of a nut did not change, then, working in a similar manner, serially adjust gaps of the second inlet valve and two final.
6. Having turned a cranked shaft on 180 ° counterclockwise (the cogwheel of a camshaft has to be turned on 90 °), bring the piston of the third cylinder into the provision VMT of the end of a step of compression. Thus UP tag on a cogwheel of a camshaft has to turn into situation for 9 hours. Check and adjust valves of the third cylinder.
7. Turn a cranked shaft for 180 ° counterclockwise (the tag of UP will fall down for 6 hours) and adjust valves of the fourth cylinder.
8. Having once again turned a cranked shaft on 180 ° (the tag of UP has to turn into situation for 3 hours), repeat procedure for valves of the second cylinder.
9. Having finished adjustment of valves, establish to the place of a cover of a head of cylinders and a gas-distributing belt.

V6 engines

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the top delivery chamber of the inlet pipeline, the top cover of a gas-distributing belt of a forward number of cylinders, and also covers of both heads of cylinders (see the Head Dvigatel).

2. Having turned a cranked shaft, bring the piston of the first cylinder into situation VMT (see the Head Dvigatel). Thus the corresponding tag on a cogwheel of a camshaft has to be combined with the index on a back cover of the GRM drive.

3. In the stipulated position of the engine make adjustment of valves of the first cylinder.

In each of cylinders it is provided on 4 valves (2 inlet and 2 final). The order of performance of procedure is similar described above in paragraphs 3 and 4 of the present Section.

 

4. Having turned a cranked shaft for a pulley in the direction clockwise, achieve combination with the index of a tag of VMT of the 4th the cylinder and make adjustment of its valves. Continuing to work in a similar manner (pass the cylinder to the cylinder as ignition), serially execute adjustment of valves of all remained cylinders.

The cranked shaft should be turned every time clockwise.

5. Establish to the place of a cover of heads of cylinders, the top cover of a gas-distributing belt and the top delivery chamber of the inlet pipeline.
