Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the valve of stabilization of turns of idling (IAC)

General information

When the engine works at single turns, the composition of air and fuel mix is controlled by means of the valve of stabilization of turns of idling (IAC). Activation of the IAC valve is made at the command of RSM, depending on the current load of the engine (turning on of the conditioner of air, use of the power steering, unit temperature, etc.) . The valve regulates the size of the air stream given to the inlet pipeline bypassing a butterfly valve. Obtains basic data of RSM from VSS, EST sensors, PSP sensors switches and operation of the coupling of coupling of the К/В compressor. Depending on the current load of the engine the module as appropriate corrects turns of its idling. In order to avoid violation of stability of turns of idling at start of the engine the IAC valve opens at the time of a provorachivaniye of the last and remains open right after start for some time, providing supply of additional air in the inlet pipeline.

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Working in a motive compartment, try not to allow hits of hands, hair and details of clothes in contact with moving components, such as driving belts, blades of a krylchatka of the fan, etc.

1. Cock the parking brake, prop up car wheels antiretractable boots and transfer transmission to neutral transfer (RKPP) or to situation "P" (AT). According to instructions of manufacturers connect a tachometer to the engine. Start the engine and lift the frequency of its rotation to value of 3000 rpm. Wait for operation of the fan of the cooling system, then dump turns to single and write down indications of a tachometer (the fan of the cooling system and all consumers of the electric power have to be switched off). If the frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft makes 650 ÷ 700 rpm, therefore, the system functions regularly. At result of measurement 650 rpm are lower, disunite the electric socket of the IAC valve. At a detachment of the valve there has to be a noticeable decrease in turns of the engine, otherwise the valve most likely is faulty. If falling of turns takes place, and the problem with support of their stability does not disappear, check a condition of a plait of an electrical wiring and its contact connections on a site between the IAC and RSM valve.

2. If the tachometer fixes value more than 750 rpm, kill the engine and disconnect an inlet air duct from the throttle case. Start the engine on single turns. Block the lower port of the case of a throttle (connected to the IAC valve) a finger, - if turns considerably fall, make correction of installation of their single value, having brought into accord with requirements of Specifications (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). If it is not possible to execute adjustment, replace the IAC valve. In the absence of falling of turns, check an inlet path for existence of signs of losses of depression.
3. If check confirms serviceability of the IAC valve, however, the problem with violation of stability of turns remains, check a condition of an electrical wiring and its contact connections on a site between the valve and RSM.

4. Make sure of serviceability of giving of power supply from the battery on the IAC valve. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the valve, include ignitions (the engine do not start) and measure tension between the socket plug No. 2 from a plait and weight. The nominal rate equals to battery tension. In the absence of food check a condition of an electrical wiring on a chain site between the IAC valve and the main PGM-FI relay (see schemes of electric connections in the Head Onboard electric equipment).

5. Measure by an ohmmeter resistance between the plug 1 of the IAC valve and weight. The device has to register conductivity existence, otherwise make recovery repair of grounding.
6. At positive results of both checks drive away the car for more detailed diagnostics on car repair shop.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the IAC valve.
2. On the V6 models remove the throttle case from the inlet pipeline (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
3. Turn out two fixing screws and remove the valve from the inlet pipeline (4-cylinder models) or cases of a throttle (V6 model).
4. Installation is made upside-down. Do not forget to replace a sealing ring.
